Meet the WLC Team: Fran Murrells

This week, we meet our fabulous Director and Head of Content, Fran Murrells.

WLC: Fran, please start by telling us about your background, and how you found your way to the WorkLife Central team?

FM: I fell into events on leaving University, a career it turns out has brought me great pleasure and lots of opportunities. Some highlights include organising content and logistics for huge Risk Management conferences in Australia and the US; running a CPD programme of over 400 events a year for a Chartered Institute; and delivering a 1,200 person digital advertising event at the Barbican. I was taking some time out to spend with my son prior to him starting school when I saw the advert for WorkLife Central and despite not job seeking at the time had to apply as it was such a good fit for my expertise and interests.

WLC: Tell us about your role: what do you do for WorkLife Central and what do you like most about your job?

FM: I develop create and manage the content that support WorkLife Central’s network of working professionals. Staying on top of the latest trends and conversations around families, wellbeing, careers and inclusion, identifying leading experts and creating a programme of online talks, workshops, ask the expert sessions, support groups and videos that enables them to balance their work and home lives.

My favourite part of my role is working with all our wonderful experts.  I love the inspiring conversations we have and how they help shape my own world view.

WLC: Tell us something that people might not know about you?

FM: I lived in Hong Kong in my early twenties and always planned to go back to live there again. Maybe a HK branch of WLC Louisa?

WLC: How do you look after your own wellbeing?

FM: I am a yoga fanatic, it gives me time for myself and the ability to clear and calm my mind. For balance I am also partial to a G and T.

WLC: What’s your favourite part of the WorkLife Central programme?

FM: Ohh this is a difficult question. It’s like children you shouldn’t really have a favourite! They all bring different things into my life - guiding, supporting and challenging me.
