Events Round-Up - November 2016
Miss a recent Cityparents event that sounded interesting? Here’s another chance to catch up on our recent events and hear about what’s coming up this quarter.
Our recent events
Our Autumn schedule kicked off, appropriately, with ‘Back to School’, giving helpful tips to parents on managing the transition between holidays and the school term, whilst ‘School Transitions’ provided more focused advice to parents of children moving between primary and secondary school. The practical theme continued with career-focused events How to Network and Building Strengths and Confidence, followed by a seminar aiming to bridge the gap between the office and family life – ‘how to apply your leadership skills at home’.
In October, returners from parental leave enjoyed separate seminars dedicated to the maternity and paternity transition, whilst several events on the topic of education proved extremely popular, including ‘Education strategy – finding the right path’, as well as focused seminars on writing, reading and sex education. Parental strategy continues to be a core interest for many working parents, and events such as ‘Raising Responsible Teenagers, ‘Managing Sibling Rivalry’ and ‘Raising Resilient Children’ all provided useful tips and advice.
And of course, the Cityparents Accelerator Day on 14 October provided a fantastic opportunity for members to hear from a range of Cityparents experts and keynote speakers Samantha Simmonds and Professor Tanya Byron – click here to learn more about this event and what our keynote speakers had to say.
For your diary
The year may be coming to an end, but there’s still plenty of events happening at Cityparents!
Coming up we have a new seminar on Personal Brand on 22 November, and a repeat of the exceptionally popular ‘Children’s mental health’ seminar, run by the charity Place2Be, taking place on 23 November.
If you’d like help navigating busy mornings at home, why not sign up for ‘Stress-free morning routines’ on 24 November, and if you’d like fresh ideas for parenting strategy then give ‘The power of positive parenting’ a go on 29 November.
On 6 December we bring you another new topic, ‘Developing a growth mindset in children’, covering how a ‘growth mindset’ can help a child achieve success and happiness at school and in future life. And if homework is proving to be a regular battleground at home, join us at Homework Matters on 7 December for guidance and tips on how to encourage children to do their homework willingly and independently, and how to establish productive homework routines.
